About PEG-100 Lanolin
PEG-100 Lanolin is a polyethylene glycol derivative of lanolin containing an average of 100 moles of ethylene oxide.[1] The number 100 in the name indicates the average number of added ethylene oxide units; within the same base structure, changing this number may also change water compatibility and the formulation’s viscosity and spreadability. In cosmetics, it is used to create emulsified formulations in which water and oil are evenly mixed and to lower surface tension so raw materials can wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
