About PEG-10 Sorbitan Laurate

PEG-10 Sorbitan Laurate is an ethoxylated sorbitan ester of lauric acid and an average of 10 moles of ethylene oxide.[1] The number 10 in the name indicates the average number of added ethylene oxide units; within the same base structure, changing this number can alter water miscibility and the formula's viscosity and spreadability. In cosmetics, it is used to create emulsions in which water and oil are evenly mixed and to lower surface tension so ingredients can wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
