About PEG-10 Polydimethylsiloxyethyl Dimethicone/Bis-Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer

PEG-10 Polydimethylsiloxyethyl Dimethicone/Bis-Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer is a copolymer of PEG-10 polydimethylsiloxyethyl dimethicone crosslinked with bis-vinyl dimethicone.[1] The number 10 in the name indicates the average number of ethylene oxide units added; within the same basic structure, changing this number may also change water compatibility and the viscosity and spreadability of the formulation. In cosmetics, it is used to reduce friction on the skin or hair and add a smooth feel, create emulsions in which water and oil are evenly mixed, and form a thin film on the skin, hair, or nail surface after application.[2] It is also used to leave the skin surface feeling soft and smooth, and to lower surface tension so ingredients can wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
