About PEG-10/Lauryl Dimethicone Crosspolymer
PEG-10/Lauryl Dimethicone Crosspolymer is a copolymer of lauryl dimethicone cross-linked with diallyl PEG-10.[1] The number 10 in the name indicates the average number of added ethylene oxide units. Within the same base structure, changing this number can affect water compatibility and the formula’s viscosity and spreadability. In cosmetics, it is used to help keep the formula’s condition and properties from changing easily during storage, lower surface tension so raw materials wet, mix, and spread evenly, and control the formula’s viscosity and flow.[3] In Europe, diethylene glycol remaining as an impurity in the raw material must be controlled at 0.1% or less.[2]
