About PEG-10 Isostearate

PEG-10 Isostearate is a polyethylene glycol ester of isostearic acid.[1] The number 10 in the name indicates the average number of ethylene oxide units added. Within the same base structure, changing this number can affect water miscibility as well as the viscosity and spreadability of the formulation. In cosmetics, it is used to create emulsions in which water and oil are evenly mixed and to lower surface tension so ingredients wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
