About Palmamide DEA
Palmamide DEA is a mixture of ethanolamides of fatty acids obtained from oil palm oil.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to create emulsified formulations in which water and oil are evenly mixed, to help prevent separation of emulsified water-and-oil systems, and to increase the amount of foam and help it resist collapsing.[3] It is also used to lower surface tension so that ingredients wet, mix, and spread evenly, and to adjust the viscosity and flow of the formulation.[3] In Europe, the secondary amine content of finished products is limited to a maximum of 0.5%, and the nitrosamine content must also be no more than 50 μg/kg.[2]
