Oligopeptide-127 Rh-Oligopeptide-4 is a single-chain fusion peptide obtained by fermentation in Escherichia coli.[1] The number 4 at the end of the name is only an identification number distinguishing different peptides; it does not indicate the amount used or a ranking of efficacy. In cosmetics, it is used to reduce friction on the skin or hair and add a smooth feel, attract moisture to the formula and skin's surface to help maintain moisturization, and leave the skin's surface feeling soft and smooth.[3] It cannot be used in cosmetics in Europe.[2]
