Olibanum is a gum resin obtained from frankincense trees.[1] Its molecular weight, degree of cross-linking, and concentration may affect the formula's viscosity and the thickness and flexibility of the film formed after drying. In cosmetics, it is used to prevent the raw material's characteristic odor or taste from becoming too noticeable, and to leave the skin surface feeling soft and smooth.[2]
