About Oleyl Palmitamide
Oleyl Palmitamide is a substituted aliphatic amide in which a portion derived from palmitic acid and an oleyl group are joined by an amide bond.[1] Because it has two long hydrocarbon portions, it does not mix readily with water and tends to remain in the oil phase; its hardness and flow may vary depending on the formulation temperature and amount used. In cosmetics, it is used to reduce light transmission so the contents appear less visible, and especially to adjust the viscosity of nonaqueous formulations, controlling their flow and the texture when dispensed from the container.[2]
