About Oleth-82
Oleth-82 is the polyethylene glycol ether of oleyl alcohol.[1] The number 82 at the end of the name indicates the average number of added ethylene oxide units. It changes the balance between water-attracting and fat-attracting portions, resulting in differences in cleansing power, emulsifying ability, and feel. In cosmetics, it is used to help sebum and impurities wash away with water and to lower surface tension so raw materials wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
