About Oleth-44
Oleth-44 is a polyethylene glycol ether of oleyl alcohol.[1] The number 44 at the end of the name indicates the average number of ethylene oxide units added. It changes the balance between water-loving and oil-loving parts, resulting in differences in cleansing power, emulsifying ability, and sensory feel. In cosmetics, it is used to help sebum and impurities wash away with water and to lower surface tension so that raw materials wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
