About Oleth-4
Oleth-4 is the polyethylene glycol ether of oleyl alcohol.[1] The number 4 at the end of the name indicates the average number of ethylene oxide units added. It changes the balance between the water-attracting and oil-attracting portions, resulting in differences in cleansing power, emulsifying ability, and skin feel. In cosmetics, it is used to create emulsified formulations in which water and oil are evenly mixed.[2]
