About Oleth-30
Oleth-30 is the polyethylene glycol ether of oleyl alcohol.[1] The number 30 at the end of the name refers to the average number of ethylene oxide units added. It changes the balance between water-loving and oil-loving parts, resulting in differences in cleansing ability, emulsifying ability, and skin feel. In cosmetics, it is used to help sebum and impurities rinse away with water, create emulsions in which water and oil are evenly mixed, and lower surface tension so ingredients can wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
