About Oleth-2

Oleth-2 is a polyethylene glycol ether of oleyl alcohol.[1] The number 2 at the end of the name indicates the average number of added ethylene oxide units. It changes the balance between water-loving and oil-loving parts, resulting in differences in cleansing ability, emulsifying ability, and feel. In cosmetics, it is used to create emulsified formulations in which water and oil are evenly mixed, and to lower surface tension so ingredients wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
