About Oleth-12
Oleth-12 is a polyethylene glycol ether of oleyl alcohol.[1] The number 12 at the end of the name indicates the average number of ethylene oxide units added. This changes the balance between the water-loving and oil-loving parts, resulting in differences in cleansing power, emulsifying ability, and skin feel. In cosmetics, it is used to create emulsions in which water and oil are evenly blended, and to lower surface tension so that raw materials can wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
