Oleth-100 is a polyethylene glycol ether of oleyl alcohol.[1] The number 100 at the end of the name refers to the average number of ethylene oxide units added. It changes the balance between the water-affine and fatty-component-affine portions, resulting in differences in cleansing power, emulsifying ability, and skin feel.
