About O-Phenylphenol
O-Phenylphenol is a substituted aromatic compound.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to inhibit the growth of microorganisms in products and delay deterioration during storage.[3] In Europe, when used as a preservative, it may be used at up to 0.2% expressed as phenol in rinse-off products and up to 0.15% in leave-on products.[2] However, it cannot be used in spray applications where users may inhale it and expose the lungs, or in oral products.[2]
