About Mea-Laureth-6 Carboxylate

MEA-Laureth-6 Carboxylate is the monoethanolamine salt of Laureth-6 Carboxylic Acid.[1] The number 6 at the end of the name indicates the average number of ethylene oxide units added; it changes the balance between the water-attracting and fat-attracting parts, resulting in differences in cleansing power, emulsifying ability, and sensory feel. In cosmetics, it is used to help sebum and impurities wash away with water, create emulsified formulations in which water and oil are evenly mixed, and lower surface tension so ingredients wet, mix, and spread evenly.[3] In Europe, the secondary amine content of finished products is limited to a maximum of 0.5%, and nitrosamine content must also be no more than 50 μg/kg.[2]
