MEA-C10-13 Alkyl Benzenesulfonate is an ester in which portions derived from an acid and an alcohol are joined.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to help sebum and impurities wash away with water and to lower surface tension so ingredients wet, mix, and spread evenly.[1] In Europe, the secondary amine content of the finished product is limited to a maximum of 0.5%, and the nitrosamine content must not exceed 50 μg/kg.[2]
