About Maltodextrin

Maltodextrin is a saccharide obtained by hydrolyzing starch.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to absorb liquids such as water or oils in a formulation, to help formulation ingredients bind together and maintain their form, and to prevent an emulsion of water and oil from separating easily.[2] It is also used to form a thin film on the surface of skin, hair, or nails after application, to smooth hair by reducing tangling and a rough feel, and to leave the skin's surface soft and smooth.[2]
