About Maleated Hexene/Propylene Copolymer

Maleated Hexene/Propylene Copolymer is a polymer of hexene and propylene monomers reacted with maleic anhydride.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to leave the skin's surface feeling soft and smooth, reduce tangling and rough feel in hair for a smoother finish, and adjust the viscosity and flow of the formulation.[1] It is also used to form a thin film on the skin, hair, or nail surface after application, help keep emulsions of water and oil from separating easily, and create emulsified formulations in which water and oil are evenly mixed.[1] It is used to lower surface tension so ingredients wet, mix, and spread evenly, and to reduce light transmission so the contents appear less translucent.[1]
