About Magnesium Laureth-5 Sulfate
Magnesium Laureth-5 Sulfate is the magnesium salt of the sulfuric acid ester of Laureth-5.[1] The number 5 at the end of the name indicates the average number of ethylene oxide units added. It changes the balance between water-attracting and oil-attracting parts, resulting in differences in cleansing, emulsifying ability, and skin feel. In cosmetics, it is used to help sebum and impurities rinse away with water and to lower surface tension so raw materials wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
