About Magnesium Carbonate
Magnesium Carbonate is basic dehydrated magnesium carbonate or ordinary hydrated magnesium carbonate.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to absorb liquids such as moisture or oil in formulations, to help formulation ingredients bind together and maintain their form, and to increase formulation bulk and adjust the amount of solids.[4] It is also used to reduce light transmission so that the contents appear less translucent.[4] In Europe, it may be used to color cosmetics.[2] Described as a white crystalline powder, its solubility in water and oil should be checked first so that it can be dissolved or dispersed in the appropriate phase to help create a uniform formulation.[3]
