Lauryl Hydroxysultaine is a zwitterion (inner salt).[1] In cosmetics, it is used to reduce static electricity that causes hair strands to lift or stick together, help sebum and impurities wash away with water, and increase the amount of foam and help it last longer.[2] It is also used to reduce tangling and roughness in hair for smoother grooming, smooth and soften the skin’s surface, and lower surface tension so ingredients wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2] It is used to adjust the viscosity and flow of the formulation.[2]
