About Laureth-50
Laureth-50 is a polyethylene glycol ether of lauryl alcohol, with an average of 50 ethylene oxide units.[1] The number 50 at the end of the name refers to the average number of added ethylene oxide units; it changes the balance between water-loving and oil-loving portions, resulting in differences in cleansing ability, emulsifying ability, and sensory feel. In cosmetics, it is used to help sebum and impurities wash away with water and to lower surface tension so ingredients wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
