Laureth-50 is a polyethylene glycol ether of lauryl alcohol, with an average of 50 ethylene oxide units.[1] The number 50 at the end of the name refers to the average number of added ethylene oxide units; it changes the balance between water-loving and oil-loving portions, resulting in differences in cleansing ability, emulsifying ability, and sensory feel.
