About Laureth-25
Laureth-25 is the polyethylene glycol ether of lauryl alcohol, with an average n value of 25.[1] The number 25 at the end of the name indicates the average number of ethylene oxide units added. This changes the balance between the water-attracting and oil-attracting portions, resulting in differences in cleansing power, emulsifying ability, and skin feel. In cosmetics, it is used to help sebum and impurities rinse away with water, create emulsified formulas in which water and oil are evenly mixed, and lower surface tension so ingredients wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
