About Laureth-2
Laureth-2 is the polyethylene glycol ether of lauryl alcohol, with an average n of 2.[1] The number 2 at the end of the name refers to the average number of added ethylene oxide units. It changes the balance between the water-loving and oil-loving portions, resulting in differences in cleansing power, emulsifying ability, and feel. In cosmetics, it is used to help sebum and impurities rinse away with water, to create emulsions in which water and oil are evenly mixed, and to lower surface tension so ingredients wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
