About Laureth-12
Laureth-12 is a polyethylene glycol ether of lauryl alcohol with an average n value of 12.[1] The number 12 at the end of the name refers to the average number of ethylene oxide units added. It changes the balance between the water-loving and oil-loving parts, affecting cleansing power, emulsifying ability, and skin feel. In cosmetics, it is used to create emulsified formulas in which water and oil are evenly mixed, and to lower surface tension so ingredients wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
