About Laureth-10
Laureth-10 is the polyethylene glycol ether of lauryl alcohol, with n averaging 10.[1] The number 10 at the end of the name refers to the average number of added ethylene oxide units. It changes the balance between the water-loving and oil-loving portions, resulting in differences in cleansing power, emulsifying ability, and feel. In cosmetics, it is used to create emulsified formulations in which water and oil are evenly mixed, and to lower surface tension so ingredients wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
