Lanolin Alcohol is a mixture of organic alcohols obtained by hydrolyzing lanolin.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to reduce static electricity that causes hair strands to lift or stick together, help formula ingredients bind together and maintain their form, and reduce friction on skin or hair while adding a smooth feel.[2] It is also used to create emulsified formulas in which water and oil are evenly mixed, reduce tangling and roughness in hair for smooth manageability, and adjust the formula’s viscosity and flow.[2]
