About Laneth-40
Laneth-40 is a polyethylene glycol ether of ethoxylated lanolin alcohol with an average of 40 moles of ethylene oxide.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to help wash away sebum and impurities with water, create emulsified formulas in which water and oil are evenly mixed, and lower surface tension so ingredients wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2] It is also used to adjust a formula’s viscosity and flow.[2]
