Isostearoyl Hydrolyzed Keratin is an ingredient obtained through the condensation reaction of isostearic acid chloride and hydrolyzed keratin.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to help sebum and impurities wash away with water, smooth hair by reducing tangling and roughness, and leave the skin's surface soft and smooth.[2] It is also used to lower surface tension so ingredients wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
