About Isobutyl Benzoate
Isobutyl Benzoate is an ester of isobutyl alcohol and benzoic acid.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to add fragrance to products or adjust the characteristic odor of ingredients, inhibit microbial growth to delay spoilage during storage, and dissolve other ingredients to create a uniform formulation. In Europe, when used as a preservative, it is permitted at up to 0.5% based on acid content.[2][3]
