About Hydroxypropylcellulose

Hydroxypropylcellulose is the propylene glycol ether of cellulose.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to help ingredients in a formula bind together and maintain its form, to create emulsified formulas in which water and oil are evenly mixed, and to help prevent the emulsified water-and-oil state from separating easily.[2] It is also used to form a thin film on the surface of the skin, hair, and nails after application, and to control the formula’s viscosity and flow.[2]
