About Hydroxypropyl Guar

Hydroxypropyl Guar is the propylene glycol ether of guar gum.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to reduce static electricity that causes hair strands to lift or stick together, help the ingredients in a formulation bind together to maintain its form, and keep emulsions of water and oil from separating easily.[2] It is also used to form a thin film on the skin, hair, or nail surface after application, lower surface tension so raw materials wet, mix, and spread evenly, and control viscosity and flow.[2]
