About Hydrolyzed Hydroxypropyl Starch Octenylsuccinate
Hydrolyzed Hydroxypropyl Starch Octenylsuccinate is an ingredient made by hydrolyzing large molecules into smaller ones.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to help reduce plaque buildup on tooth surfaces, keep emulsions of water and oil from separating easily, and smooth and condition hair by reducing tangling and roughness.[1] It is also used to hold a desired hairstyle in place, attract moisture to the formula and skin surface to help maintain moisturization, and leave the skin surface soft and smooth.[1] It is used to lower surface tension so ingredients can wet, mix, and spread evenly, and to control the viscosity and flow of the formula.[1]
