About Hydrogenated Tallowtrimonium Chloride

Hydrogenated Tallowtrimonium Chloride is a quaternary ammonium salt.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to reduce static electricity that causes hair strands to lift or cling to one another, to reduce tangling and roughness for smoother-feeling hair, and to inhibit the growth of microorganisms in the product to delay deterioration during storage.[3] It is also used to lower surface tension so ingredients wet, mix, and spread evenly.[3] In Europe, when used as a preservative, it is permitted at up to 0.1%.[2]
