Hexyl Alcohol is an aliphatic alcohol that mainly has the following type of structure.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to suppress the formation of unwanted foam during manufacturing or use, to help ingredients that do not dissolve readily in water disperse more evenly in the aqueous phase, and to add fragrance to a product or adjust the characteristic odor of raw materials.[2] It is also used to dissolve other raw materials to create a uniform formula and to lower surface tension so raw materials wet, mix, and disperse evenly.[2]
