About Heptylglycerin

Heptylglycerin is an individual ingredient used in cosmetics.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to help inhibit microbial growth, reduce sweat secretion, and reduce the prominence of unpleasant odors.[2] It is also used to leave the skin surface feeling soft and smooth, reduce friction on skin or hair and add a smooth feel, and lower surface tension so raw materials wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2] It is used to create emulsified formulas in which water and oil are evenly mixed, help attract moisture to the formula and skin surface to maintain hydration, and dissolve other raw materials to create a uniform formula.[2] It is also used to help sebum and impurities wash away with water.[2]
