About Glycosaminoglycans

Glycosaminoglycans are long, unbranched polysaccharides composed of repeating disaccharide units consisting of an amino sugar (N-acetylglucosamine or N-acetylgalactosamine) together with glucuronic acid or galactose.[1] In cosmetics, they are used to reduce friction on the skin or hair and add a smooth feel, to form a thin film on the surface of the skin, hair, or nails after application, and to smooth and soften the skin’s surface.[2]
