About Glycol Hydroxystearate
Glycol Hydroxystearate is an ester of ethylene glycol and hydroxystearic acid.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to reduce friction on the skin or hair and add a smooth feel, create emulsion formulas in which water and oil are evenly mixed, and reduce light transmission so the contents appear less translucent.[2] It is also used to leave the skin's surface feeling soft and smooth.[2]
