About Glycol Cetearate

Glycol Cetearate has the following structure and is an ester of ethylene glycol and a fatty acid mixture consisting primarily of palmitic and stearic acids.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to reduce friction on skin or hair and add a smooth feel, create emulsified formulations in which water and oil are evenly mixed, and help prevent the emulsion of water and oil from separating easily.[2] It is also used to leave the skin surface soft and smooth and to help prevent the formulation's condition and properties from changing easily during storage.[2]
