About Ethyl PEG-15 Cocamine Sulfate
Ethyl PEG-15 Cocamine Sulfate is amphoteric (an intramolecular salt).[1] The number 15 in the name indicates the average number of added ethylene oxide units; for the same base structure, changing this number may also change water miscibility and the viscosity and spreadability of the formulation. In cosmetics, it is used to reduce static that causes hair strands to lift or stick together, help sebum and dirt rinse away with water, and create emulsions in which water and oil are evenly mixed.[2] It is also used to reduce tangling and rough feel in hair for smooth grooming and to reduce surface tension so ingredients wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
