About Ethyl Benzoate

Ethyl Benzoate is the ester of benzoic acid and ethyl alcohol.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to add fragrance to a product or adjust the characteristic odor of raw materials, and to inhibit microbial growth in the product, slowing deterioration during storage.[3] In Europe, when used as a preservative, it is permitted at up to 0.5% (based on acid content).[2]
