About Disodium Wheat Germamido PEG-2 Sulfosuccinate

Disodium Wheat Germamido PEG-2 Sulfosuccinate is the disodium salt of the wheat germ oil amide of the diglycol half ester of sulfosuccinic acid.[1] The number 2 in the name indicates the average number of ethylene oxide units added; with the same base structure, changing this number can affect water miscibility and the viscosity and spreadability of the formulation. In cosmetics, it is used to help sebum and impurities wash away with water, increase the amount of foam and help it last longer, and help ingredients that do not dissolve well in water disperse more evenly in the aqueous phase.[2] It is also used to lower surface tension so that raw materials can wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
