Disodium Stearoyl Glutamate is an amino acid or amino acid derivative containing both amino and acidic groups.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to help sebum and impurities wash away with water, to reduce tangling and rough feel in hair and leave it smooth, and to leave the skin's surface feeling soft and smooth.[2] It is also used to lower surface tension so ingredients can wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
