About Disodium PEG-8 Ricinosuccinate

Disodium PEG-8 Ricinosuccinate is the disodium salt of a dicarboxylic acid.[1] The number 8 in the name indicates the average number of added ethylene oxide units. With the same base structure, changes in this number may affect water miscibility as well as the formula’s viscosity and spreadability. In cosmetics, it is used to help sebum and impurities rinse away with water, create emulsions in which water and oil are evenly mixed, and lower surface tension so raw materials wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
