About Disodium Palmitamido PEG-2 Sulfosuccinate
Disodium Palmitamido PEG-2 Sulfosuccinate is the disodium salt of the ethoxylated monopalmitylamide of a half ester of sulfosuccinic acid.[1] The number 2 in the name indicates the average number of added ethylene oxide units. With the same base structure, changing this number may alter water compatibility and the formula’s viscosity and spreadability. In cosmetics, it is used to help sebum and impurities rinse away with water, increase the amount of foam and help it last longer, and help ingredients that do not dissolve well in water disperse more evenly in the aqueous phase.[2] It is also used to lower surface tension so ingredients can wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
