Disodium Lauryl Phenyl Ether Disulfonate is an aromatic sulfonate.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to help sebum and impurities wash away with water, to create emulsified formulations in which water and oil are evenly mixed, and to help ingredients that are not readily soluble in water disperse more evenly in the aqueous phase.[2] It is also used to lower surface tension so that raw materials can wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
