About Disodium Laureth-7 Citrate

Disodium Laureth-7 Citrate is the disodium salt of the ester of Laureth-7 and citric acid.[1] The number 7 at the end of the name indicates the average number of added ethylene oxide units; it changes the balance between water-affine and oil-affine parts, resulting in differences in cleansing performance, emulsification, and sensory feel. In cosmetics, it is used to help sebum and impurities rinse away with water, create emulsified formulations in which water and oil are evenly mixed, and lower surface tension so raw materials can be wetted, mixed, and spread evenly.[2]
